Join HH as they celebrate 40 years of offering services and support to victims/survivors of DV in the Rome-Floyd County community! This is a time to learn more about HH, meet the people behind the mission and reflect on the hard work accomplished over the years. A rolling slideshow of peak moments over the years will display as attendees enjoy refreshments, mingling and a custom Anniversary cake! This is an Annual End-of-the-Year event and all are welcome to join. This year, it will take place at the Wilder Center at Rome First United Methodist at 6:00 pm.
As HH hosts their annual Candlelight Vigil, they will honor those who've lost their lives to domestic violence, as well as give voice to those who have survived. Beginning at 6:00 pm, at Rotary Plaza, a survivor will share her story of struggle and survival in the face of DV, and as we light our small flames, we'll honor the names of those lost. In solidarity, we will release a purple lantern from the footbridge downtown to the sounds of soft live music. This event is free and open to the public; no registration is required.
Join us for an evening of yoga and self-care. Self-care is an important piece of building a healthy community. We need to take care of those taking care of others, so we invite community members and partners to join us for this special yoga class where we will do gentle restorative yoga postures that bring peace to the mind, and ease to the body. This class will be taught by Ashley Demonbreun-Chapman a Yoga teacher from SpringStone yoga as well as an outreach advocate at the Hospitality House. The class is offered by donation, so show up and give what you feel comfortable giving for an evening of yoga.
Class will be held at SpringStone Yoga 210 East 2nd Ave, Suite 203
It's the 10th Anniversary of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Rome! Come march against violence with us as we all (especially the guys) put on our heels and show our support and awareness.
This International march solidifies two important facts 1. You can never understand a person's situation until you've walked in their shoes and 2. Domestic violence is not just a women's issue..it's a human issue. Join us as Rome takes its tenth walk against violence!
In honor of Mother's Day and in line with a Spring Cleaning concept for mind and body, HH (that's us) is hosting a yoga class! The class is on a donation basis ($10 suggested), and all proceeds will benefit Hospitality House (us again!). Join us as we Spring for Empowerment!
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)!
Our Candlelight Vigil is held in honor, recognition and remembrance of those who have lost their lives in the struggle against domestic violence. But our gentle flames are also a symbol of the fiery strength inside each survivor. So, on Oct. 20, we will burn wax in the name of remembrance and empowerment.
Our vigil will include an honored guest who will speak of her struggle and survival in the face of DV, live acoustic songs by Erin Moniz, candle-lighting and lantern release over the Coosa River in downtown Rome.
Meet us in beautiful downtown Rome, GA, October 14, for our 9th Annual march against domestic violence!
