As Hospitality House hots their annual Candlelight Vigil, they will honor those who’ve lost their lives to domestic violence as well as give a voice to those who have survived. Beginning at 6:00 pm, at Rotary Plaza, a survivor will share her story of struggle and survival in the face of DV, and as we light our small flames, we’ll honor the names of those lost. In solidarity we will release a purple lantern from the footbridge downtown to the sounds to soft live music. This event is free and open to the public. No registration required.
In line with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, in October, Hospitality House hosts the biggest (and most stylish) march against violence in Rome, GA! Walk a Mile in Her Shoes (WAM) is an international march against domestic violence (DV) and each year we have 400-500 community members don their best ladies shoes to march down Broad St., solidifying two facts; DV is not just a women's issue, and you truly can never understand a person's situation until you've walked in their shoes. This event is lighthearted, there will be men in heels, there will be mascots of all kinds, there will always be popcorn! Although approached with fun energy, we do this to bring awareness to a very heavily weighted subject. This event is free and open to the public. Every registered participant receives a free T-shirt and a goody bag. Click HERE to register!
